THE WSJ’s JOE WHITE TAKES A SPIN IN THE ALL-ELECTRIC CODA AND PROVIDES THOUGHTS ON AUTO INDUSTRY INNOVATION

CODA Automotive President and CEO, Kevin Czinger, had the chance to meet up with Pulitzer Prize winning automotive journalist, Joseph White, and took him for a ride in the all-electric CODA last week at The Wall Street Journal ECO:nomics Conference in Santa Barbara, California.

As Czinger stepped on the acceleration and sped out of the picturesque Bacara Resort compound without using an ounce of oil and producing zero tailpipe emissions, White and Czinger got into the specifics of what it takes to build a new automotive company that will redefine the industry for the 21st century and how innovation is central to everything CODA Automotive does.

As an entrepreneurial company that believes being nimble and efficient is a way of life, California-based CODA operates in a global way with partners across America, in Europe and in China.  The CODA will be the first safe, affordable, all-electric sedan to hit the US market when deliveries begin in late 2010, and it’s 100% independent of the oil industry.

Agree with everything said except for one major element . People do not want a boring looking car that looks like an existing thermal engine . Electric Cars are disruptive and provide a platform to people who are interested in making a statement. Making them functional yes , making them look like an obsolete thermal engine ,no .

Purchasing an EV is a deeply emotional action .

Good luck to coda nevertheless !

Oh! Really! Have you folk heard of Tesla, who has been building production all electric cars since March, 2008?

It’s commendable that you are anxious to bring BEV’s to the market place, however, please do your research.

    Мда.

С одной стороны сообщение интересное, но с другой очень мало фактических обоснований...

    Hi Amy,
Tesla has done a great job increasing awareness of electric vehicles. We think they have a beautiful car, but most Americans probably cannot afford it. Like Tesla, we’re also committed to accelerating the electric car movement, and that is why we plan to deliver the first safe and affordable all-electric sedan to the US market in Q4 of this year. We’ll announce exact pricing this summer, but ballpark is mid-low $30,000-range including the Federal tax credit ($7,500) and the California state cash rebate ($5,000).
